Tinnitus, Hyperacusis Assessment & Counselling
Tinnitus - noises in the head or ears with no external source - affects a significant number of people across all age groups. If you are experiencing tinnitus, it is important to get your hearing levels checked as a hearing loss may have occurred concurrently. As part of your tinnitus assessment, James Hearing specialists will perform pure tone audiometry and document any tinnitus characteristics. Using this information, our supportive Hearing Therapist can organise the fitting of electronic 'masking' devices and propose numerous habituation tactics to alleviate the negative effects of tinnitus on your well-being. Such reassurance at a time you may be feeling anxious or alone often proves invaluable.
Similarly, excessive sensitivity to normal sound (hyperacusis) can be both measured and lessened by our team.
